The main purpose of this project is to support the intensification of long-term cross-sectoral scientific research cooperation in the field of waste, materials, and by-products of metallurgical and related operations.

The project is oriented on the basic research in the field of the utilization of the large volume wastes and by-products coming from the metallurgy sector. The typical groups of the materials represent slags, the products of dry and wet cleaning of gases, additionally also the ashes from associated energy units and solid wastes from foundries.

The project aims to gain scientific knowledge, which will subsequently lead to the elimination of adverse environmental effects of the listed products, further contribute to the increase of their material use, or increase the value of products obtained from originally waste materials of metallurgical and related plants.

The mission of the project is:

Increasing the re-utilization of the waste products

Numerous waste products originating in metallurgy have high potential to be recycled in the place of their origin

Materials and energy savings

Sharing the results within the different sectors of R&D and production

It is previsioned that the results and the outputs of the project have an application potential through the different sectors of the industry, for example energy sector, waste treatment industry, sectors focused on materials engineering, living environment protection, etc. Sharing the results and outputs on the intersectoral and international level is one of the main ideas of the project.

Sipka

Intersectoral and international collaboration

Interconnection of the application sector and research centres

Sharing of the project outputs with the other stakeholders is the predisposition for the creation of novel and innovative approaches.
