Research of the other solid wastes, materials and by-products of metallurgical and related processes
Next to the slags, the metallurgy sector generates the wide range of the other by-products, wastes or in general, the materials, which do not represent the main objective of the metallurgical production. These are for example the dusts, which originates during the cleaning of the gases used during the metallurgical processes or different kinds of the sludge, dusts and exposed forming mixtures with furan based binders used during the foundry processes, mixtures of the refractories. Research of the possible treatment of these kind of materials with the aim to prepare new products with the additional value is the main goal of WP2.
Utilization of the blast furnace and convertor sludge as the raw materials for other productions
- Pyro and hydro metallurgical separation of the zinc
- Preparation of the nanocomposites based on ZnO-layered materials with graphitic structure
- Iron oxides separation
- Electrochemical treatment of the sludge
Treatment and further utilization of the dusts originating during the cleaning of the gases utilized in the metallurgical processes
- Elimination of alkali metals and chlorides from the metallurgical dusts
- Re-utilization of the dusts in the smelting units
- Treatment of the separated chlorides
Study of the sorption properties of the original and modified metallurgical sludge and dusts
- Sorption of the heavy metals on the metallurgical sludge and dusts
- Sorption of the phosphates on the original and modified materials
- Sorption of the selected organic pollutants on the dusts and sludge
Focus on the decreasing of the refractory deposition on the landfills.
